Introduction
Any emergency incident can be stressful, confusing, and distract from normal business operations. In today’s blog, we will be walking you through some of the important things to keep in mind both in preparation for and responding to when an incident occurs.
Understanding Environmental Emergencies
Preparation is the largest priority for spills and environmental disasters. Typically, it is not “if” it will occur, it is “when” it will occur. Even the smallest of incidents can disrupt business operations. One of the biggest things to understand regarding environmental emergencies is that being prepared can make a huge difference. From having emergency plans in place to having a relationship with a company that you can trust and fall back on if an incident were to occur…it is very important that you prepare in advance for emergency situations as it can save time, money, and can minimize overall environmental liability.
Our Role Regarding Emergency Response
One of the many services that Highlands Environmental Solutions offers are emergency response services. We have offered this service for over twenty years, and it is considered to be one of the primary services that we have to offer. HES has even gone as far as to develop an app for incident responses. This can be downloaded from the app or Google play store by simply searching “HES ER App”. This app allows a person at the scene to provide critical information regarding actual conditions at an incident scene, which allows us to cater a more efficient response. At HES, we employ common sense solutions to approach any environmental issue, in a logical and cost-effective manner. To learn more about our emergency response services, click the link below!
Case Studies
Below are two case studies based on projects that we have completed in the past!
This first case study is based off of a release incident that occurred in Greenville, North Carolina. Highlands Environmental Solutions was called to support the response to an overturned petroleum tanker. An undetermined amount of petroleum had leaked into the soil and a fire resulting from the accident caused major damage to a nearby road and buildings. HES was able to respond and remediate the project site quickly, and obtain regulatory closure within 80 days that the incident occurred. This second case study is based off of a rollover and release incident that occurred in Ridgeville, South Carolina. During this incident, approximately 7,700 gallons of gasoline was released into a grassy area and drainage ditch. Want to learn just how efficiently this site was remediated and how quickly regulatory closure was received? Click the link below to read the full edition of this case study!
We have several more case studies on a wide variety of different topics that can be found on our website or by using the link below!
Conclusion
We hope that you were able to learn a little more about experience with emergency response projects. The key to a successful response is having a prevention and response plan in place before an incident occurs. Relationships are key… knowledge and experience are vital.
